Hiking and nature lovers staying at our properties can take a fantastic excursion on foot to the Bonany Shrine. The Camí de l’Infern (“Path to Hell”) starts off just 300 metres from Villas Petra Mallorca. This trail runs up the Bonany Peak or hillside for around 317 metres. The Bonany Peak is a protected Nature Area. On the trail, visitors get to see typical Majorcan plant life comprising olive trees, Holm oaks and pine trees. In addition, they can also spot and hear birds such as blackbirds, sparrows, goldfinch and hoopoes. They are also likely to run into rabbits and hedgehogs.

There is a marvellous view from the top of the hillside. On clear days, there are also views towards Minorca and Cabrera.
The Bonany Shrine can be visited once at the top. The original building was built in the 17th century but was destroyed by a lightning strike and rebuilt in the 1920s thanks to the work of many volunteers. It is said that Friar Junípero Serra gave his last mass here before heading to the Americas.
After the walk and visit to the Shrine, there is an outdoor area for resting and having a picnic. It is an ideal spot to get your strength back, and enjoy the landscape and peace and quiet.
